About Graham

seneca-headshot-sept-2019I’m so glad you’ve stopped by for a visit. My name is Graham Lavender. This page was originally written entirely in third person, which may have been better for my site’s SEO, but this is much more friendly, don’t you think?

I love information and technology. I’m currently Bibliothécaire en relations industrielles, sciences économiques et données statistiques à l’Université de Montréal, and I’ve worked in various academic libraries and in web development, always looking for new ways to harness technology to connect people with the information they need. If you’d like to know more about my career, check me out on LinkedIn. When not saving the world through information, I enjoy drinking Assam tea, taking photos of the people and landscapes around me, and spending time with my wonderful librarian wife and our two adorable little future librarians.

I started blogging while working on my Master of Library and Information Studies degree in 2008, after seeing a presentation on starting your own blog by John Dupuis. My blog was originally called The Inspired Library School Student, and it covered issues of interest to other students; old ILSS posts are still available in the GrahamLavender.com blog archives.

For articles and blog posts published elsewhere, see More writing by Graham. You can also see slides from some of the presentations I’ve given.

    • Hi Edmund, I’m glad you like the site! And thanks for the link – I hadn’t heard about that before, but it’s good to know that kind of process is happening at McGill.
